Pillow Trends
Sumptuous Texture: A pillow should feel as great as it looks. That means the pillow form is as important as the color. Nothing beats the malleability and comfort of a down/feather blend. Pillow covers in linen, velvet, wool, or silk look elegant and feel luxurious.
Intricate Handwork: Homespun crafts are trend-right when combined with a modern aesthetic. Look for embroidery, needlepoint, hand-printing, crewelwork, and appliqué treatments. If you plan to use the pillow for an occasional nap, be sure any embellishments feel OK on your face.
Courageous Color: There’s no better way to take a chance on an unexpected or trendy color than with punchy accent pillows. They’re small, relatively inexpensive, and easy to return if your experiment doesn’t quite work the way you planned. Pillows are also the perfect vehicle to legitimize a stray accent color that pops up in a rug or painting.
Powerful Patter: Pattern is back in a big way, but it’s risky to order a pricey sofa in a bold print. Not so with pillows. Pillows look best when they’re mixed, not matched, and they offer up-to-the-minute style without a leap of faith.
